ACFD: Dog Perishes In Monday Night Structure Fire

A dog perished in a structure fire Monday night in Ark City.

According to the Ark City Fire Department, firefighters responded to a blaze at 1012 South C. St. at 7:21 p.m.

No other injuries or fatalities were reported and other pets were able to escape.

The house is a rental and its occupants were not at home at the time of the fire.

ACFD estimates property loss at $20,000 and contents at $4,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire was controlled just over an hour later. Winfield and Udall fire departments assisted.
