Two people were arrested early Labor Day morning as authorities investigated the report of a stolen vehicle in Udall.

26-year-old Cameron W. King and 20-year-old Rachael M. West, both of Wichita, were arrested after a brief foot chase. King is still in custody and West has posted bond, according to online jail records.

Around 1:15 a.m. Monday, Cowley County Sheriff deputies and Udall police responded to the 100 block of Church in Udall for a motor vehicle theft. While enroute to the address, the reporting party told authorities that he was following his vehicle in the 11000 block of 21st Road.

As deputies were approaching the vehicle’s owner lost contact with his vehicle. The suspects are accused of taking a second vehicle from the 13000 block of 51st.

Winfield Police saw that vehicle and attempted to stop it at Main and the K-360 bypass.

The vehicle and suspects fled north on Main and turned west on 9th Street. Once the vehicle left the city limits it drove through numerous fields west of Winfield before it became disabled in the 18000 block of 61st Road.

At that point, the suspects fled on foot and were subsequently taken into custody.
