Arkansas City’s Reedy Ford Is Being Sold So Current Owners Can Retire

Dick and Judy Reedy have announced they’re selling the Ford dealership they operate in Ark City, so that they can retire.

The sale of Reedy Ford, 3319 N. Summit, is expected to be finalized in late October or early November. Bill Reedy, Dick’s father, bought at an existing dealership in 1967 and it has been in the family ever since.

“A lot of our friends are customers and a lot of our customers are now friends,” Judy Reedy said Monday. “It will be a big change for us. But we’re going to retire.”

Judy said she and her husband would take some time to decide what exactly they will do in retirement. Dick worked his way up from the parts department at the family dealership and Judy joined the company when Total Refinery closed in the mid ‘90s.

The couple raised their children in the Ark City community.

“We’ve always tried to support our community,” Judy said. “It’s where we live and work. It’s meant so much to us. We just want to say thank you.”

So far, few details about the company purchasing Reedy Ford have been made available. The dealership is expected to undergo a name change but continue to operate under the Ford banner.

Reedy Ford has started advertising locally for “One Last Big Sale” that runs until the end of the month.
