Playoffs: Ark City To Face Wellington For First Time Since 2011; Winfield Readies Again For El Dorado

Playoff brackets are set for high school football across the state and Winfield and Ark City have road trips, but will not have to travel far.

In the Class 4A West Bracket, released by the Kansas State High School Activities Association Saturday, Ark City (2-6, No. 10 seed) will travel to Wellington to face the Crusaders (3-5, No. 7 seed) for the first time since 2011, while Winfield (1-7, No. 14 seed) will travel to El Dorado to take on the Wildcats (4-2, No. 3 seed) in back-to-back games.

The Vikings fell to El Dorado Friday night in Richard Jantz Stadium in its regular season finale 32-14.

The Bulldogs last played Wellington on Oct. 7, 2011. Ark City lost that game in Wellington 22-8.

According to Ark City Athletic Director Aaron Bucher, the last time the Bulldogs defeated the Crusaders was in 1988 when Ark City defeated Wellington 6-0.

Ark City finished the regular season Friday night with a 37-6 loss against Andover Central in Bulldog Stadium.

Both games will be broadcast live next Friday night on KSOK 95.9 FM, 103.3 FM/1280 AM KSOK and streamed online via ksokradio.com and the KSOK mobile app.
