Pickup Lands Partially Submerged Near Bridge East Of Oxford Early Sunday

An Edmond, Okla., woman and her passenger suffered minor injuries over the weekend after she lost control of her pickup and came to a stop partially submerged underneath a bridge west of Winfield on U.S. 160.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Kiana Baker, 21, was traveling westbound on U.S. 160 near mile marker 309, or the 1000 block of U.S. 160, in Cowley County and swerved to avoid a deer and lost control of the vehicle.

The 2014 Ram 1500 went off the roadway airborne and came to a stop and was partially submerged underneath a bridge.

KHP was called to the scene at 3:30 a.m.

Baker and her passenger, Richard Baker, 44, also of Edmond, suffered minor injuries and were transported to William Newton Hospital in Winfield.

Neither were wearing their seatbelts.

Bartlesville Man Arrested For DUI Following Friday Accident

A Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 6,000 block of 11th Road for an injury accident at 9:36 p.m. Friday.

Broderick Anderson, 44, of Bartlesville, Okla., was arrested for DUI, suspended driver’s license, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance, and
an outside warrant. He was also cited for illegal parking.
