Cambridge Man One Of Three Killed In Fiery Crash North Of Independence

A rural Cowley County man was killed in a head-on collision Monday north of Independence in Wilson County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Curtis D. Wilkins, 40, of Cambridge, was on of three killed in the accident.

KHP says Wilkins was westbound on U.S. 400, one mile west of the U.S. 400/Highway 39 junction, in the left lane driving a 2006 Ram 1500 pickup and crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2011 Ford F-150 head on.

Both vehicles caught fire and came to a rest in the eastbound lane of U.S. 400.

The two occupants — both women — of the Ford pickup were also killed in the crash.

They were driver Tiffany Lynn Bekemeier, 39 of Aurora, Missouri, and passenger Randy Lynn Carlisle, 18, also of Aurora.
