Cowley County Fair Planning To Return This Summer

The Cowley County Fair may return this year after the pandemic canceled it last summer.

The Cowley County Fair is typically the first full-weekend in August at the Winfield Fairgrounds. 

According to the Cowley County Fair’s Facebook page, planning for the 2021 fair is underway — including grandstand events.

The fair board met this week.

Active COVID-19 cases have decreased significantly across the state and in Cowley County recently. 

According to Wednesday’s report from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, only three new cases have been added to the county’s total since Monday’s KDHE report.

Since the pandemic began, Cowley County has totaled 3,880 cases of the virus and deaths in the county attributed to COVID-19 number 104, according to the City-Cowley County Health Department last week.

Almost 1,000 cases alone were added during the month of November in Cowley County, when COVID-19 cases soared locally and across the nation. Throughout November, Cowley County recorded nearly 200 new cases per week. 

Since Jan. 28 — 48 days ago — Cowley County has added 505 new cases with 80 of those added in the past 19 days since Feb. 26.
