Gov. Kelly To Visit Winfield Wednesday To Honor Rosproy

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly will be in Winfield Wednesday morning to honor a USD 465 educator, according to the school district Monday.

The governor will be visiting the Winfield Early Learning Center to make a presentation to Winfield preschool teacher Tabatha Rosproy, who was named the 2020 National Teacher of the Year last May.

Rosproy was one of four finalists and the first Kansas teacher to receive the honor since 1962.

Before the pandemic, Rosproy taught in a program nestled within a retirement village and nursing home that included interaction with residents.

Rosproy helped the Cumbernauld Little Vikes program build new social capital in the community and boasted the highest preschool literacy and math scores in the district.
