Warrant Requested For Ark City Man Who Fled Police

The Arkansas City Police Department has requested a warrant for an Ark City man after he allegedly attempted to flee on a motorcycle last Thursday.

According to a news release from authorities Monday, Nicholas Kane Telles, 43, is accused by police of driving while a habitual violator, driving with a suspended driver’s license (third offense), fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer and operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration.

An officer on patrol about 7:49 p.m. Thursday observed a man driving a motorcycle in the 3100 block of North Summit Street. The officer recognized the motorcycle rider as Telles.

A check confirmed that Telles had a suspended driver’s license and an expired vehicle registration.

The officer followed Telles onto Greenway Avenue and attempted a traffic stop. Telles allegedly stopped but then accelerated rapidly and fled the area. The officer did not pursue the motorcycle.

An affidavit has been submitted to the Cowley County Attorney’s Office to review for the issuance of an arrest warrant for Telles on the charges listed above.
