The Kansas Department of Transportation will close the East Kansas approach to the U.S. 77-U.S. 166 roundabout on Tuesday so the lanes can be repainted, according to a news release from the City of Ark City.
As part of this closure, starting after 8:30 a.m. so school traffic is not impacted, eastbound traffic on East Kansas Avenue will be diverted south onto J Street, then west on East Poplar Avenue to Street.
Detoured traffic will be able to continue south on F Street to East Chestnut Avenue and thereby access the U.S. 77 bypass from the Chestnut Avenue intersection to proceed north back to U.S. 166.
This closure is not expected to last more than one day. Although there may be some lingering work and cleanup into Wednesday, KDOT has no plans to close the roundabout for a second straight day.
