July 4th Fireworks Show Set for Winfield Fairgrounds; Fundraising Efforts Successful

Local fireworks display organizers report that recent efforts toward funding for the annual community 4th of July Celebration at the Winfield Fairgrounds have been successful, according to a news release Monday from Winfield City Manager Taggart Wall.

The 2021 fireworks display celebration, which is greatly managed by the Winfield Rotary Club, is all set for Sunday evening at the fairgrounds. Fireworks begin at dark.

The public is welcome to sit in the grandstands or tune in at 93.9 FM from campsites or vehicles.

“We invite all of the community to come down to the Fairgrounds Sunday night. Bring your family down to the Pecan Grove or Fairgrounds and enjoy the show,” stated Wall, who is also a Rotary member. “Many thanks to those who have donated thus far.”

Coca-Cola Bottling of Winfield has stepped up as the leading sponsor of the event. For those still wanting to contribute, volunteers will be at the entrances and coming around throughout the fairgrounds accepting donations for drinks provided by Coca-Cola.

A community drive-thru dinner held by the Kiwanis Club and sponsored by Coca-Cola and Wendy’s last weekend brought much needed support as well, Wall said.

Organizers are still seeking a local group or individuals interested in spearheading the event in future years. Due to funding uncertainty, the event is scaled back for 2021, but organizers say it does not have to be that way in the future.

“Every bit of donations will provide a good foundation to plan a larger event next year. There really are so many possibilities,” Wall said.

Last month, Wall said the fireworks show was behind in its fundraising efforts.
