Police Investigating Reports Of Gunfire In Winfield Wednesday Night; Home Struck

Winfield police are investigating reports of gunfire in the area of 12th Avenue and Fuller street late Wednesday night.

According to a news release from the WPD Thursday, officers were dispatched to the area of 12th and Fuller at approximately 10:20 p.m. Wednesday night for a report of gun shots being fire.

After arriving in the area, officers were advised by dispatch there was a second caller that stated their home had been shot and a bullet came through their window.

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the reporting party who indicated they heard three to four gun shots to the north of their location. While speaking to the reporting party, the victim came out of a nearby house and identified her residence as being the one that had been shot.

Upon investigating the scene, three bullet strikes were located and documented.

It was also learned that there were two adults and two juveniles inside the home at the time the shooting occurred. No one was injured by this shooting.

With the information and evidence obtained through the investigation, it is believed this was a targeted incident and not random. This investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this point.

The Winfield Police Department was assisted by the Cowley County Sheriff’s Department, Cowley County Trackers and the Winfield Fire Department.
