Hunter Tabbed As Next Visit Ark City Director

Visit Ark City has announced Jill Hunter has accepted the position of Program Director effective September 1, 2021, according to a news release from Visit Ark City this week.

Hunter will work with the current director, Pam Crain, for the month of September.

Hunter, a native of Arkansas City, has 20 years of sales experience from Zeller Motors, 14 years of business experience with Farm Bureau Financial Services and numerous volunteer services to the community, according to Visit Ark City.

“Jill’s community roots run deep and her love for Arkansas City is evident in all her volunteer involvement,” the news release stated. “In 2018, Jill was given the well-deserved distinction of being named the Arkalalah Grand Marshall because of all of her volunteer work in Arkansas City.”

The Bobby Estes Bike Ride is held every Memorial Day weekend since 2015 and Hunter is the driving force behind this event, the news release said. The ride raises money to purchase bicycles for Ark City children at Christmas.

Hunter is an active member of Soroptimist International of Arkansas City, serves on the board of Angels in the Attic, Inc. and previously served as chairperson of the Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce.

A life-long resident of Ark City, Hunter is the fifth child of former state representative Jack Shriver and his wife Carolyn. Brother Joe Shriver is also a native of Ark City and his wife Mindy along with Carolyn all reside in Ark City.

“The Board of Directors of VISIT Ark City are very excited to have a person of Jill’s dedication and commitment to our community to lead the efforts of VISIT Ark City” stated Crain.

The public is invited to a  “Welcome and Going Away ‘ALOHA’ Reception” for Hunter and Crain on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 5-7 p.m. at the Burford Theater.
