Steve and Christi Lungren are purchasing KSOK Radio and are happy to make their Ark City homecoming.

Their Doxa Wave LLC has entered into an agreement with Cowley County Broadcasting, Inc to acquire KSOK’s 95.9 FM, 1280 AM and 103.3 The MIXX FM . The sale is subject to FCC regulatory approval and is expected to close by year’s end.

For the past year, Steve Lungren has served as general manager of Ponca City-based Sterling Broadcasting, owner of 104.7 The Bull. He plans to continue his affiliation with the company.

“My wife Christi and I are extremely excited to announce the launch of Doxa Wave. Our new name and brand gives us the foundation and focus we need for future growth and fulfill our desire to serve small, local communities,” Lungren said. “I’m also excited to welcome KSOK-AM and FM as the first stations in the Doxa Wave family.

“We look forward to working toward the future success of the stations and serving the region with the highest quality radio products and customer service.”

Along with the purchase of KSOK, the Lungrens will be entering into a joint sales agreement with Lyman and Zoe Bowling and Sterling Broadcasting and working with them to provide audio and digital services across the combined markets. Sterling owns KQSN-FM (1047 The Bull) and WBBZ-AM (News Talk 1230).

The acquisition of KSOK-AM and FM offers a homecoming for Steve and Christi, who owned and operated multiple local businesses and raised their daughters in Arkansas City.

Shane Farley, President of Cowley County Broadcasting, said he wants to see the Lungrens succeed with KSOK Radio.

“In the radio business there is strength in partnerships and first-hand knowledge of the market,” Farley said. “I’m confident the Lungrens’ familiarity with the area and their connection with Sterling Broadcasting and The Bull will put them on solid footing toward the future. I wish them the best.”

Concerning staffing plans for the stations, Lungren says “We’re thrilled with the team that Shane Farley has in place and look forward to welcoming them into our family. It’s been a pleasure working with Shane during this process and we’re grateful for the relationship we’ve developed along the way.”
