Two Confirmed Dead In Car Vs Combine Accident; Investigation Continues

Two people are confirmed dead following an accident Sunday afternoon north of Winfield that involved a vehicle and a combine.

According to a news release from the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office Monday morning, a vehicle was traveling south on 75th Road — the old highway — and struck a combine just south of the intersection of 75th Road and 102nd Road, just west of U.S. 77. 

The vehicle went underneath the combine and was engulfed by fire.

Two occupants inside the vehicle died from their injuries. An autopsy has been ordered for both and no positive identification has been made.

The driver of the combine was uninjured.

This case is still under investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.

An accident north of Winfield is being investigated as a fatality case.

Cowley County Sherriff Dave Falletti confirmed to KSOK-NewsCow a vehicle ran head-on into a combine at 75th Road — the old highway — and 102nd Road west of U.S. 77.

The vehicle caught on fire and it is unknown how many people were in the vehicle.

First responders are working an accident scene north of Winfield that was called just after noon Sunday.

Cowley County Sherriff Dave Falletii confirmed to KSOK-NewsCow the accident involves a car that caught fire with its occupants trapped following a collision with a combine. 

No fatalities have been confirmed, Falletti said.

Emergency crews continue to work the accident.
