ACPD: Only Minor Injuries Reported In Recent Bypass Accident

The Arkansas City Police Department investigated a minor-injury, two-vehicle accident recently on the U.S. 77 bypass in east-central Ark City, according to a news release.

The Arkansas City Fire-EMS and Police departments were dispatched at 10:26 a.m. on Nov. 19 to the intersection of East Chestnut Avenue and the U.S. 77 bypass for a report of an injury accident.

Police determined a gray Honda passenger car that was eastbound on Chestnut had failed to yield at the stop sign and subsequently struck a northbound blue Dodge sport utility vehicle on the bypass.

The juvenile driver of the Honda was its only occupant. She was cited for failure to yield to traffic.

The juvenile female and the two occupants of the Dodge SUV all were treated by the Fire-EMS Department at the scene, but declined transport or further medical attention.

The accident remains under investigation.
