Smoke At WMS Briefly Delayed Start of School Today

Smoke from a faulty blower motor briefly delayed the start of classes for students at Winfield Middle School this morning.

The Winfield Fire Dept., and police, were called to the school Wednesday morning. A district official said the building was evacuated, though school had not actually started for the day.

There was no fire, the official said, but smoke from the motor.

Fire officials investigated the scene and students were cleared to reenter the school around 8:30 a.m. Normally scheduled classes resumed at that point.
