Ark City Visioning Session Is Saturday

The City of Arkansas City, the Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce and Cowley First want to hear from local citizens about our downtown’s future.

These three entities will be host to a special “visioning session” from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 in the historic Burford Theatre, located at 118 S. Summit St. in downtown Arkansas City. An input session is also set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Chamber.

“We want to hear from you! Please consider attending this special community input session and sharing your thoughts, concerns, goals, hopes, and dreams with us as we work to revitalize downtown Ark City,” said City Manager Randy Frazer.

There will be small group breakout sessions from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a lunch buffet and a group close-out/debriefing session from noon to 12:30 p.m. Participants will brainstorm ways City and economic development officials can revitalize and re-imagine our historic downtown in conjunction with such new state programs as Kansas Main Street and the Rural Housing Incentive District.

This forum will be facilitated by students from Kansas State University and South Dakota State University. Lunch is pulled pork, baked potato salad and green beans, catered by Big-N-Smalls BBQ.

The City asks that those who plan to attend please RSVP in one of the following ways so event organizers can be sure to have enough food on hand for all participants:
