Snow That Blanketed Cowley And Sumner Tapering Off Thursday Afternoon

Roughly six inches of snow blanketed South Central Kansas early Wednesday through Thursday, according to area weather info. The blast of winter weather led to some slick driving conditions, school cancellations and below-zero wind chills.

Oh, and plenty of outdoor fun for the young and old.

In the photo above, taken and submitted by Erle Coleman, his granddaughter, Wren Avery Coleman, is shown playing in the snow Wednesday on the deck of Erle’s home two miles south of Winfield.

Forecasts show that any snow fall should mostly cease by 5 p.m. today. Warmer temps should arrive by Friday afternoon, though overnight wind chills should still be below zero the next two nights.

Road conditions remain an issue and several accidents were reported through Thursday morning.
