Belle Plaine Community Foundation Has Scholarships And Other Opportunities

The Belle Plaine Community Foundation – an affiliate of Legacy Regional Community Foundation – is currently accepting applications for several local projects including Scholarships, Spring Youth Grants and Quality Citizen.

Scholarship applications are due by Friday, March 11, 2022. The deadline for Spring Youth Grant applications and Quality Citizen nominations is Sunday, March 20, 2022.

Belle Plaine Community Foundation is pleased to provide three scholarship opportunities to area students – Lanore Bishop Educational Scholarship, Ralph and Dorothy Hopper Mathematics Scholarship and Ada Lucretia Miller Scholarship. Interested students should review the guidelines and download the application found on the BPCF website.

In addition to scholarships, Lanore Bishop’s gift provides for a large number of youth projects in the Belle Plaine and Mulvane communities. These projects are funded from Bishop Youth Grants. Grant applications are sought twice a year from area nonprofit organizations for projects benefiting youth in the Belle Plaine and Mulvane areas. Additional information is available from BPCF.

And, each year Belle Plaine Community Foundation hosts the annual Quality Citizen Award. This award recognizes a person dedicated to serving and enhancing the quality of life in Belle Plaine, Kansas. Those interested in nominating a deserving community leader should submit a completed nomination form prior to the March 20 deadline.

The Belle Plaine Community Foundation (BPCF) was founded in 1996 to be a legal vehicle for local residents to make charitable gifts back to their community. With established policies and procedures for prudent investment and stewardship of money under their direction, the Belle Plaine Community Foundation board of directors has an accomplished record of good fund management. The Foundation awards between $35,000 to $40,000 each year to local scholarships, projects and programs. Area residents currently serving as the BPCF Board: Linda Stinnett (Chair), Julie Gooch, Loree Hisken, and Robin Macy.
