King, Sanderholm Named Cowley Royalty At Basketball Game Wednesday

Capping a week full of Homecoming activities, Clarence King and Madilynn Sanderholm were named Cowley College’s Homecoming king and queen during halftime of the Tiger men’s basketball game vs. Butler Community College on Wednesday night at W.S. Scott Auditorium.

Clarence is the son of Bynika Porter and Clay King. At Cowley he helped the Tiger men’s basketball team to a conference title, region title, and national runner-up finish during the 2021 season. 

After Cowley, he plans to continue playing basketball at a four-year school. The sports management major plans to become a basketball coach.

Madilynn is the daughter of Aaron and Lindsay Sanderholm. At Cowley she is a member of the Tigerette Dance team, CC Singers, PTK, Act One Drama Club, and is a Student Ambassador and Student Senate president. She is a member of the President’s Honor Roll and helped the Tigerette dance team capture the Region 6 championship. The liberal arts major plans to transfer to a four-year university.

Last year’s king and queen, Andrew Burgos and Audrianna Bruce, were on hand to crown the new king and queen.

Moxen Vollmer, son of Nick and Tiffany Vollmer, and Cameron Leigh Nies, daughter of Matthew and Krystle Nies, handled the duties of the crown bearers.

Queen finalists were: Michaela Seahorn, KJ Nolan, Ileana Varela, Tynil Retzer, and Madilynn Sanderholm.

King finalists were: Zane Butler, Goran Duijsters, Jean De-Dixon, Angel Morales, and Clarence King.
