Keith Anglemyer Has Been Named New Pastor At First UMC In El Dorado

Winfield native Keith Anglemyer has been named the new pastor of the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado.

The move will put Anglemyer, 60, closer to his hometown after stints as pastor in three other Kansas locations, Sharon Springs, Liberal and Beloit. His appointment in El Dorado begins July 1.

That appointment was made by Bishop Ruben Saenz and the Cabinet of the Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church.

“We are excited for this new opportunity for ministry in El Dorado, especially since it puts us much closer to family members, including the growing number of grandchildren with which we have been blessed,” Anglemyer said via Facebook. “At the same time we are deeply saddened to be leaving such a fine community and church in Beloit.”

Anglemyer had a career in public education in Winfield for many years, including directing the Winfield High School band, before becoming a UMC pastor about 14 years ago.

He and his wife, Cindy, have five children and maintain a home in Winfield. They have three grandchildren and two more on the way.
