Stolen Truck Recovered In Cowley County After Being Listed For Sale Online

A stolen vehicle was recovered over the weekend after its owner called authorities to say they saw the vehicle for sale in Cowley County.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, deputies were contacted by an individual who said they’d seen their truck posted for sale. The sheriff’s dept. visited the Pleasant Valley area, south of Winfield, and located the truck.

The truck was reported stolen in Sedgwick County and the owner had seen it listed for sale online. Once recovered, the vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.

There was no mention of arrests being made in the case thus far.

National crime statistics show 8,000 or more vehicles are stolen annually in Kansas. Chevy, Dodge and Ford full-size pickup trucks regularly in the top 5 of vehicles stolen.

Law enforcement encourages owners to keep their vehicle locked at all times as theft is usually a crime of opportunity.
