Study Finds Wages For Cowley County Staff Are Below Average

Employees working for Cowley County make well below the market average for those in similar positions, a study has determined.

McGrath Consulting Group found wages to be roughly 15 to 20 percent below market, according to county administrator Lucas Goff. McGrathy specializes in analyzing employee compensation, especially in the public sector.

County commissioners were made aware of preliminary findings at their regular meeting this week. The study also determined the county provides insurance benefits within the market averages and paid time off that is above average.

The county employs more than 200 people.

McGrath will formally present their findings April 19.
