Cowley County is part of an area – east of the Kansas Turnpike – that could experience a round of severe weather Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service says that at this time severe storms are likely along and east of the turnpike. Storms could begin later afternoon or early evening.
Tornadoes, one or two that are strong, are possible as is tennis-ball-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.
A second round of storms could develop later Tuesday and early Wednesday that includes quarter-size hail and strong winds. The tornado threat would be lesser.
