Jeff Porter, a 2000 graduate of Winfield High School, has been chosen as the new city manager for the city of Wellington. A planned start date is Oct. 17, he said.
Porter’s hiring was approved by a vote of 5-1 during a Wellington City Council meeting last week. He is currently city administrator in Medicine Lodge.
Jeff is the son of Warren and Ventura Porter, who were longtime Winfield residents.
Warren Porter served as city manager in Winfield for 20 years before retiring in 2016. He currently is city administrator for Rose Hill.
