Kathryn June Sparks, 75, passed away at her home Saturday, August 20, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association and the Cancer Research Institute.
Contributions may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Kathy was born on October 30, 1946 to Chet and Verla (Mavity) Martin in Arkansas City. She attended local schools, obtained her GED, and later completed Cosmetology School. Kathy was united in marriage to Gerald Sparks on October 15, 1973. She worked as a hairdresser, a truck driver, and most recently as an office manager for her daughter’s business while also taking care of her mother.
Kathy enjoyed reading, breeding boxers and traveling, and she dearly loved her family.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Shandon Weston; grandchildren, Meagan Hunt, John Weston II, Britany Dunlap, Joey Weston, and Harley Weston; 12 great-grandchildren; great niece, Cari Holmes; great nephew, Zach Lancaster; sister, Sue Lancaster; and numerous other family members. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
