The Sporting Friends of Cowley County will be hosting the Tyler Juden Memorial Youth Hunter Education Challenge on Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Baird Ranch south of Silverdale.
Prior to the challenge, the group will be hosting a Youth Church Service again this year at 8:30 a.m. Registration will follow at 9 a.m. and then the challenge is from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Tyler Juden Memorial Youth Hunter Education Challenge provides a fun and practical environment for kids, ages 10 to 17, to develop and improve their hunting, marksmanship, and safety skills. Participants get hands-on training from rifle, bow, muzzleloader, and shotgun.
All firearms and ammunition will be provided by Sporting Friends of Cowley County. The top ranking older kids who reside in Cowley County have a chance to compete for the opportunity to attend Whittington Center Adventure Camp next summer sponsored by Bob and Reatha Juden in memory of their son Tyler.
“We are excited to continue our tradition in teaching youth in our area valuable shooting skills,” said Brooke Istas, event co-chair. “The youth who come out to our event may be nervous to give shooting a try, but, thanks to our instructors, they leave feeling very comfortable, with a new found respect for the shooting sports.”
Previous firearm experience is not required. All skill levels are welcome. Registration is $10 and the event is limited to 50 participants. Registration can be completed on-line through the Sporting Friends of Cowley County Facebook page.
