A 21-year-old Ark City man was hospitalized for a time following an accidental shooting Saturday at a local residence, according to Ark City Police.
At 1:30 p.m., Arkansas City Police and EMS were called to the 500 block N. 3rd Street to a report of a person with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers arrived and made contact with the person.
The man told police that he was getting ready to clean the gun and that the firearm discharged one time into his leg.
Officers processed the scene. The man was transported by ambulance to the SCK Medical Center and was later transferred to a Wichita hospital for further treatment.
The man has since been released from the hospital.
