A new fitness and weight training center on the campus of Southwestern College will be dedicated during homecoming festivities later this month, the college announced Tuesday.
The ceremony for the Jim Farney center is set for 4 p.m. Oct. 18. The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony which will be held on the west side of the White Physical Educational building on the Winfield campus.
Tours of the center will follow the dedication ceremony.
Farney graduated from SC in 1953 and is a former member of the college’s board of trustees. He has endowed several scholarship funds and funded the creation of the new fitness center.
He lives in Vero Beach, Fla. and the Asheville, N.C. Area.
The Jim Farney Center will be for use by all faculty, staff and students and the college.
It will feature free weights, cabled weight machines, and cardio equipment.
