Woman in court for endangered child charge

A woman charged with endangering her baby after she left him alone in a car in Dillon’s parking lot last August appeared in District Court in Winfield Tuesday morning.

The case against Sambria Shockley, 24, Winfield, was continued until Nov. 8 for disposition other than by trial.

The five-month-old baby was taken into protective custody after police rescued the child. What has transpired in District Court concerning the child since then is not public information.

Endangering a child is a class A misdemeanor and punishable by up to a year in the county jail and a $2,500 fine.
