UPDATE: Arin Richardson in ‘good’ condition

Arin Richardson’s condition was upgraded from serious to good condition overnight at Via Christi Regional Medical Center.

The 15-year-old rural Winfield teen and her sister, Ashton, 18, were injured Thursday morning when a large oil field truck struck their small passenger car east of Winfield.

Ashton remained in fair condition Friday morning at Wesley Medical Center. The truck driver, Michael Kennedy, 31, Winfield, was not injured, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Kennedy was headed east on U.S. 160 when Ashton stopped at the posted stop on Cowley 1 (151st), and then pulled in front of the 1980 Ford truck. Trooper Bob LeVelle said.

Both girls were wearing seat belts and pinned in the 1998 Chevrolet. Once extricated, they were each flown to the Wichita medical centers in separate helicopters.
