An Arkansas City student emerged as Cowley County’s top speller Wednesday morning. Alec Trent finished first in the county-wide spelling bee and is headed to a regional bee in Great Bend.
Trent was followed by Udall’s Heath Satterlee in second place. Kai McClure, Winfield, finished in third and Travis Wham, who attends Central schools in Burden, was fourth.
The annual county bee was held at the middle school in Ark City Wednesday morning.
