Autopsy confirms aneurysm in student death

The preliminary results of an autopsy performed Friday on an Arkansas City man who died unexpectedly at his home Thursday indicates a cerebral aneurysm as the cause of death, Arkansas City Police Chief Sean Wallace said.

A doctor at the local emergency room who examined Derek Burroughs also thought the Cowley College student’s death was caused by a cerebral aneurysm, according to Wallace.

Burroughs was the baseball manager for the college team and planned to enroll at Oklahoma State University in the fall. He was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, a tutor at the college and a Sunday school teacher.
