Rape suspect has hearing delayed to May 12

A preliminary hearing for a Winfield man charged with six counts of rape has been continued until May 12.

The hearing for 20-year-old Aaron W. Williard was scheduled for Thursday afternoon. He remains free on $25,000 bond.

Williard is charged with forcibly raping an adult woman in June 2006. He is also accused of raping a girl under 14 years of age on five occasions in 2006. The victim is 15 now.

Rape is a severity level one person felony. The penalty ranges from a minimum of 147 months to a maximum of 653 months in prison and a fine of up to $300,000.
