Jodi’s Law is headed to the governor’s office

Anti-stalking legislation was approved by the Kansas Senate 40-0 Thursday. The House adopted the bill earlier this week. The bill next will go to the governor’s office.

It generally takes several days for bills to reach the governor’s office. The governor has 10 days from the time she receives the bill to sign it.

The legislation was proposed after an Arkansas City girl was murdered last year. The man accused of her murder, Justin Thurber, allegedly stalked Jodi Sanderholm and other girls as well.

Supporters of the new law believe it will make it easier for law enforcement officers to prosecute stalkers.
