Tourism photo contest winners announced

Many folks took photographs of their favorite spots in Cowley County this past year so they could enter the Second Annual photo, essay contest to celebrate National Tourism week and to celebrate Cowley County.

There were 18 entries submitted this year, which included one in the elementary school category, one in the high school category; six in the adult category; and eight in the junior high category.

Because there were not enough entries in the elementary or high school categories no judging took place for those entries.

The following individuals won in the adult category:

1st place – Larry Hahn from Winfield. The title of her photo/essay is Beauty and Strength in Connectedness.

2nd place – CJ Lockhart from Burden. The title of this photo/essay is Cambridge, KS Railroad at Sunset. And 3rd place ? Joyce Bloyer from Winfield. The title of her photo/essay is The Road Back Home.

The winners for the junior high category are:

1st place ? Madeline True from Arkansas City. The title of Madeline’s photo/essay is Tannehill Cemetery.

2nd place ? Tucker Davis from Ark City. The title of his photo/essay is What We See.

And 3rd place ? Brooke Jackson, also from Ark City. The photo/essay title for this one is The Spring Creek.
