Court appearance delayed for rape suspect

A preliminary hearing for a 20-year-old Winfield man charged with the forcible rape of an underage girl has been continued from July 22 to Aug. 19.

Jeremiah Johnson was arrested June 13 and is free on bond pending his court appearance. He and the alleged victim were acquainted and she is less than 16 years of age, police have said.

Tambra Golightley, 44, Winfield, was also arrested in connection with the Johnson case. She is charged with aiding a felon, contributing to the misconduct of a child and furnishing alcohol to minors. Golightley is scheduled to appear in District Court in Winfield July 28. She is free on $4,700 bond.
