Six counts of rape have been filed in Cowley County District Court against an Arkansas City mechanic. The alleged victims were two elderly women who lived together.
Bruce A. Hays, 41, lived with the victims for a time during 2007. The offenses occurred between Sept. 1, 2007 and July 28, 2008.
Hays moved out early this year but still lived close enough that he had access to the women. He befriended them and then took advantage of them, Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace said earlier in this investigation.
The suspect is being held in the Cowley County jail in lieu of $38,500 bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 14th.
