Woman struck by car in AC; Potts still critical

An Arkansas City woman was injured Tuesday evening when she was struck by a car in the 300 block of N. Summit Street, according to Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace.

Michelle Patrick, 37, was listed in fair condition Wednesday morning at Via Christi Regional Medical Center – St. Francis Campus. She suffered numerous fractures, lacerations and abrasions and was taken by ground ambulance to the Wichita hospital.

The name of the 17-year-old Ark City youth who struck Patrick was not released by the police department.

Witnesses reported Patrick ran out in front of traffic causing several drivers to almost come to a complete stop to avoid her, Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace said.

The driver who did strike her said he didn’t see her until she was in front of his vehicle, and he could not avoid striking her.

David Potts, a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Summit and the U.S. 77 bypass in Ark City, remained in critical condition Wednesday morning in Wichita. Potts was walking his dog when a car hit him.?
