Police: Mulvane heist not linked to AC heist

An armed robbery in Mulvane Monday night is not believed to be connected to two recent armed robberies in Arkansas City, according to Mulvane Police Chief Dave Williams.

A white man believed to be in his 30s entered the Fast Trips convenience store about 9 p.m. The robber waited four minutes for customers to leave – while a video camera captured him on tape.

"He produced a knife, demanded money. The clerk handed him some cash and he fled," Williams said. "He obviously was not a professional."

The man was wearing blue jean shorts and a darker blue T-shirt and a pair of sunglasses. His hair is also receding, according to Williams.

"He looks familiar, but I’m not sure who he is," he said.

The robberies in Ark City occurred Sept. 18 at a branch of the Home National Bank and Sept. 21 at the Country Mart grocery. One man with a gun robbed the bank.

A paroled bank robber was taken in custody in Wichita Sept. 19 for parole violation and is considered a suspect. Three men with guns robbed the grocery. No one was hurt in either robbery.

Police are still investigating, Ark City Police Captain Tom? Scott said Tuesday morning.?
