Man forgets pants, ID, but makes off with car

It seems it was a strange, eventful night for Tyler Goodbear late Friday night.

Police in Arkansas City went to a home in the 1300 block of N. Fourth after a woman reported climbing into bed and discovering a man in her bed that shouldn’t have been there. She screamed, he screamed and then he fled the home.

But, he forgot to take his pants and identification with him and police quickly determined the man in the bed was Goodbear, 21, of Ponca City.

A short time later a car sped by officers who were still investigating the call of the stranger in the bed. It was later determined that the speeding vehicle, which was stolen, was being driving by Goodbear, the man police said left his pants at the woman’s house.

Cowley County Sheriff’s officers pulled the suspect over just south of Winfield a short time later and authorities suspect he had been drinking heavily.

The car belonged to a relative of Ark City commissioner Mell Kuhn and had been parked at Kuhn’s residence, according to James Jordan’s blog Ark City Revived.

Goodbear was held at the scene for a time before being taken to the Cowley County Jail. The owner of the vehicle ? a newer model, white Chevrolet Monte Carlo ? was called to the scene to identify the car, which had been damaged.

Goodbear faces charges that include DUI, driving on a revoked driver’s license, criminal trespass and motor vehicle theft. He also could be charged as a habitual violator.
