Casino robbery suspect is due back in court

A Derby man accused of an armed robbery in the parking lot at First Council Casino is due back in Kay County, Okla. District Court Nov. 14.

Terry Wayne Menefee, 27, is charged with first degree robbery in connection with the June 8 incident.

The victim had been gambling at the casino and left with nearly $3,000. He got into his vehicle to take a nap but did not lock the doors. Menefee allegedly had a handgun and hit the victim over the head.

During the investigation, Menefee and three others were observed on a surveillance video watching the Wichita man gamble. Authorities have also said Menefee was seen on the video pulling the man out of his vehicle and taking the money.

The license plate on the car he was driving was observed on another security camera and was tracked to a Derby residence where Menefee was later arrested.
