NewsCow, KSOK candidate debate is Tues.

NewsCow.net and KSOK Radio are hosting a Cowley County 2008 Election Debate Tuesday night in Arkansas City. The event is open to the public.

The debate will begin at 6 p.m in the Wright Room at the Brown Center on the campus of Cowley College. It will also be broadcast live on KSOK Radio and available for download here at NewsCow later in the week.

State Senate candidates Greta Goodwin, D-Winfield, and Steve Abrams, R-Ark City, have confirmed their attendance, as have 78th state house candidates Ed Trimmer, D-Winfield, and John Whittington, R-Belle Plaine.

State Rep. Kasha Kelley, R-Ark City, has agreed to attend and her opponent, Gene Burr, D-Ark City, has confirmed he will make it.

County commission candidates will also be in attendance. Democrat Gary Wilson and Republican Bob Voegele are running in the second county commission district. Carmelita Clarkson, a Democrat, and Republican Alan Groom are facing off in the third district.

Candidates in the state board of education’s 10th district are also attending. Republican David Dennis and Democrat Paul Casanova are running for that position to replace Abrams.

Cowley Sheriff’s candidate Don Read and Cowley County attorney Chris Smith will also attend.
