Second driver in motorcyle crash is named

Kent Walker continues to be treated in the intensive care unit at Wesley Medical Center following a motorcycle accident at 7th and Main in Winfield Saturday evening.

Walker was driving an early ’80s model Suzuki street bike that collided with a 2006 Volkswagen Jett driven by Rebecca Potter, Wichita, according to a police report. Walker was northbound on Main when he hit the driver’s side door of the car as Potter was turning south from 7th onto Main.

Walker was thrown from the bike and hit the pavement, according to witnesses.

No details about what might have the accident have been made public so far and DeVore didn’t not comment as to whether speed was a factor.

Lori Walker, Kent’s mother, said her son had a "better night" late Sunday and early Monday. Doctors are trying to control swelling in the brain as they work to stabilize Walker. So far he has been sedated and has remained unconscious since arriving at Wesley Medical Center shortly after the crash.

The injuries to Walker were severe and his mother said that it is a miracle he’s alive and in critical condition.

"We know that he’s not out of the woods yet," she said. "Not even close."
