SOURCES: Thurber found competent for trial

Justin Thurber is competent to stand trial in the death – and possible sexual assault – of Arkansas City’s Jodi Sanderholm, NewsCow has learned.

An official announcement is not expected until later Tuesday during an open hearing for Thurber. However, court officials and the victim’s family have confirmed that Thurber was determined to be competent during a closed hearing this morning.

NewsCow has reported that Thurber’s trial could start Jan. 26 if everything proceeds as scheduled. Check back for more updates from this afternoon’s hearing.
