School board spots open across the county

Two members of the Cowley County Community College Board of Trustees have filed for election to additional four year terms. Donna Avery and Albert Bacastow Jr.want to keep their seats on the board. A third seat – currently held by Ladonna Lanning – will also be filled during the spring election.

All of the school districts in the county have board members whose terms are expiring. So far, Jamie Hibbs is the only person who has filed for election to one of the boards.

She is running for one of three positions opening on the USD 465 board of education. Julie Thompson, Vic McClung and Lyle Weinert face expiring terms.

Seats held by Connie Moore Redford, David Taylor and Denise L. Wheeler on the USD 462 school board are becoming vacant.

Three positions are also open on the USD 470 school board. The seats are currently held by Darren Reese, Joe Woodard and Joelyn Squires.

John Muntz, Bill Pudden and Steve W. Powell face expring terms on the USD 471 school board.

Christie J. Houdeshell, Joseph F. Leiblie and Charles Smith are losing their seats on the USD 463 school board.

The filing deadline is noon Jan. 27. A primary, if necessary, will be held March 3. The general election will be April 7.
