Krusor will run; Trimmer files for reelection

Mark Krusor tells NewsCow he will run for the judge’s spot that will open when J. Michael Smith retires. Krusor is a Democrat.

In a brief e-mail, the Winfield attorney said he had completed the necessary paperwork and mailed it to the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office Wednesday.

Krusor joins Republicans Bill Muret and Rod Iverson in a field that seems to grow more crowded by the day. Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith, who is part way through a second term, said Krusor informed Smith of the his decision to run.

Smith is considering a run for the judgeship but has not made a final decision. Smith is also a Democrat and if he files as a Democrat he would face Krusor in a primary.

State Rep. Ed Trimmer, a Winfield Democrat, announced Wednesday that he had filed for reelection as 78th District representative.

A former teacher, Trimmer fulfilled the unexpired term of Judy Showalter and has served in the state Legislature for five years.
