The Cowley County Sheriff’s Department is hosting a pulled pork sandwich lunch Friday that’s meant to help raise funds for the addition of a K-9 unit.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the east lawn of the Cowley County Courthouse in Winfield. Delivery is available by calling (620) 262-6995.
The meal consists of a pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, beans and a drink. How much you donate is up to you but the approximate cost of the meal is $7.50, organizers said.
Adding a K-9 for the sheriff’s office was among the goals Don Read set during his campaign for sheriff. A trained dog can aid in drug and building searches, help out at DUI check lanes and attend school and community presentations, organizers said.
