A Winfield school district employee collapsed at Winfield Middle School Friday and later died, school officials said.
Gloria Topper was an employee of the district’s central office but was helping out at the middle school. The incident occurred in the morning.
KayLynn Smith, a spokesperson for the district, confirmed that an employee collapsed and was taken to a local hospital. She was later transferred to a Wichita hospital where she died.
School ended for the year earlier this week but teachers and staff were still working to finish up end of the year duties.
